Where did the Olympic come from?

It started with the hatred of plastic.  

My brother-in-law wanted a capable lightweight full size fixed blade while hunting in remote wilderness areas where every ounce counts and I wanted a backpacking knife that keeps a minimal weight footprint on my kit but doesn't compromise on utility and durability. I knew I could come up with a solution that stuck to my making ethos and, most important of all, didn't use ANY plastic. 

When talking to some hunters I found the most popular solutions were all disposable blades that came in plastic packaging. Hunters and backpackers are environmentalists and conservationists so why did every major option on the market create plastic waste for them to potentially have to pack in and pack out? I'm sure I don't have to explain to you how damaging microplastics are to our environment, at this point I think we are all filled with existential dread about it. So then and there I made up my mind, if I'm going to do this thing, I'm gonna do it right. 

I made a prototype and sent it out into the world to be tested and get feedback to come up with a final design. This knife is named after one of my favorite wildernesses in WA state, The Olympic National Forest, where this design cut its teeth to be formed into what it is today.

The Olympic is a 2 ounce full size fixed blade with a 3" blade. The stainless steel is made of 90%+ recycled alloys with natural discoloration left from the heat treating process so each knife is completely unique to you. The handles are made of Richlite which is a recycled paper laminate made right here in Washington and the sheaths are made of leather tanned by hand from a 120 year old tannery, Horween. The Olympic isn't a competitor for what's already out there, it's a new weight class made intentionally in my small shop on the Duwamish.
